The QR Code Designer in UTM.io empowers you to create custom, branded QR codes that reflect your organization's identity. 
Whether you're running campaigns or managing templates across teams, this feature makes it easy to build beautiful QR codes and assign them intelligently.

🛠️ How to Use the QR Code Designer

📌 Option 1: From the Link Builder in the web panel

  1. From the left panel, click on Links.
  2. Click Create Link
  3. Click on the QR Code Design section.
  4. Select an existing design or click Customize QR Code.
  5. Launch the QR Designer to adjust styling and upload a logo.
  6. Save or apply the design.
  7. Create the link
  8. Download your QR code (PNG, JPEG, SVG) with or without a transparent background.

📌 Option 2: From the QR Codes Page

  1. Go to your Workspace > QR Codes.
  2. Click Create QR Code.
  3. Choose a design or customize your own.
  4. Save or apply the QR code.
  5. Create the link
  6. Download the image in your preferred format

📌 Option 3: From the Link Builder in the Chrome extension

  1. Click on the Chrome extension
  2. Scroll down the QR Code Design section.
  3. Select an existing design or click Customize QR Code.
  4. Launch the QR Designer to adjust styling and upload a logo.
  5. Save or apply the design.
  6. Create the link
  7. Download your QR code (PNG, JPEG, SVG) with or without a transparent background.


🖼️ Supported Logo Upload Formats

You can upload your own logo into any QR code design using the QR Code Designer.

✅ Accepted File Types:

  • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics — ideal for crisp rendering at all sizes)
  • PNG
  • JPEG

⚠️ Requirements:

  • Max file size: 1MB
  • File type restrictions are enforced during upload
  • Aspect ratio: Square logos (1:1) render best
📂 SVG logos are supported and recommended for highest-quality QR output. 

📦 Download Options

After creating a QR code, you can:

  • Download it in PNG, JPEG, or SVG
    • PNG 
      • Best for: Web use, digital displays, and when transparency is needed
        Advantages: Lossless compression, supports transparency, good for screens
        Use when: You need a transparent background or want to maintain perfect quality for digital use
    • JPEG 
      • Best for: Photographs or complex backgrounds, email attachments
        Advantages: Smaller file size, widely compatible
        Use when: File size is a concern, and perfect quality isn't critical
    • SVG
      • Best for: Large format printing, billboards, and any situation where the QR code needs to be scaled up
        Advantages: Infinitely scalable without quality loss, smallest file size, perfect for logos
        Use when: You need the highest quality possible or plan to resize the QR code frequently
  • Choose to remove the background for transparency
  • Access download options from:
    • The Link Builder: After creating the QR Code link
    • The QR Code icon in the Links section
    • The QR Codes page

➤ Set a Workspace Default

This is only applicable to Admins and Owners.

  1. Navigate to Workspace Settings > Rules.
  2. Under "Default QR Code Design," select your preferred template.

⚠️ What Happens If I Exit Without Saving?

If you close the designer without saving:

  • A prompt will appear: Save or Discard Changes.
  • If discarded, your work will not be recoverable

🧩 Tips & Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Can't upload logo Make sure the file is under 1MB and in SVG, PNG, or JPEG format.
Missing "Customize QR Code" button Check your role — only users with edit/create permissions will see it. Ask an admin for access.
Templates not showing up Templates are scoped to your role and workspace. Ask an admin for access.
QR code preview not appearing Try re-selecting the design from the dropdown or refreshing the builder.

Can I embed my company logo in the QR Code?

  • Yes — just upload it in SVG, PNG, or JPEG format in the QR Code Designer.

Why can't I save templates?

  • Only Admins, Workspace Admins, or Account Owners can create or manage templates.
