How to build and shorten URLs with Bit.ly

Shortening a Single URL

Open the utm.io web app or Chrome extension.

Input your link and UTM information (Campaign, Medium, Source, Term, Content, and Notes) and in the "Shortener" field, select bit.ly or your desired domain. 

Make sure you have the "Shorten" option enabled. The lower left-hand button will say "Shorten" and NOT "Copy and Save".  If the button says "Copy and Save" you may need to configure Bitly ( How to configure bit.ly) to start shortening your links. 

Then, click “Shorten URL” to shorten the URL. This will shorten, and automatically copy the link to our clipboard.

You will now see your shortened URL in the utm.io builder. Click “Copy” to copy and save to your dashboard.

If you'd like to stop shortening links, then just select "Dont Shorten" from the Shortener dropdown menu. 

Shortening Bulk Links with Bitly

Open the utm.io web app and click create link.

Select the Multiple Url's option, located in the top right of the overlay.

Input your link and UTM information (Campaign, Medium, Source, Term, Content, and Notes) and in the "Shortener" field, select bit.ly or your desired domain. 

Make sure you have the "Shorten" option enabled. The lower left-hand button will say "Shorten" and NOT "Copy and Save".  If the button says "Copy and Save" you may need to configure Bitly (How to configure bit.ly) to start shortening your links. 

Then, click “Bulk Create and Save” to shorten the URLs.

Completed generated links 

Depending on the number of URLs that are required to be generated, there may be a delay for the links to complete due to the bit.ly API limitations set on your bit.ly account. Due to this, we will notify you via email of confirmation when the processing is completed. 

You may click to copy each new bitly URL via the "copy" button located on each row.

Or you may exit via the 'x' in the top right or the bottom "Close" button to return to the links screen.
